Reflection
Our project on the lack of minority representation in natural resource activities was an extremely interesting topic, in my opinion. When I first came to the School of Renewable Natural Resources, I was shocked at the lack of diversity among the students. Admittedly, the student body has gotten increasingly more diverse in my time here, which I was happy to see. I really enjoyed looking at the results and evaluating how race ties into all the different aspects of an individual's life. This project also gave me a new appreciation for the amount of time and hard work that goes into making a survey. I never understood the amount of effort that goes into something as simple as deciding which order your questions should be asked in, or how a certain word can have a negative connotation associated with it, when compared to another. Before this project, I would usually delete surveys that I received, rather than sharing my input with the surveyor. Now, after seeing how much a large respondent number matters, and how much effort they put into creating the survey, I will try to actually fill out any surveys that are sent to me. I really enjoyed this class overall, and I enjoyed learning about the process that human dimensions plays in natural resources.
